Fresh off a shutout win over Lake Marion in Week 1, the Lucy Beckham Bengals came out roaring on Aug. 25 versus archrival Wando High School, as a capacity crowd at CCSD District 2 Stadium witnessed the second-year football program pummel the Warriors 43-0.

After a futile opening series for the Bengals offense, it was the defense that set the tone early courtesy of defensive back Perrin Ketchin, who snatched an interception intended for an opposing receiver in the end zone.

From there, the rest of the squad continued riding a booming crescendo that left a listless Wando standing in place for most of the contest.

Buoyed by a ferocious running attack featuring Stephen Segars (112 yards, 2 touchdowns) and Charles Byrd, the Bengals jumped to a 29-0 lead before halftime.

The second half was more of the same, as the Warriors were held to fewer than 100 yards of offense.
