01) Fight at 7/11- 5-01-24

The mention of a past debt on the morning of April 23 triggered a female gas station employee to pursue a former acquaintance/relative and proceed to strike him in the mouth, according to a Mount Pleasant Police Department report.

The unidentified victim's unsuccessful attempt to fuel up at a 7-Eleven station on Highway 17 prompted him to re-enter the convenience store and inform the suspect's colleague that no payment had been issued to the pump. On his way out, the 63-year-old man asked Paris James, described as a 19-year-old Black female, to "give her father $50" for a previous debt.

The request incited the retail worker to walk out after the customer and "close fist" him in the mouth. The two would soon hit the ground during the physical confrontation until the other 7/11 employee stepped in to separate them.

The male party called 911 following the fracas, as police questioned the accused store worker and went on to review footage of the tussle. The video reportedly established James as the aggressor.

During her interview with the authorities, she stated that the victim talked smack to her and made derogatory comments about her mother. James responded by calling him a "crackhead."

Paris did not present any injuries to her face, but did have bruised up hands and knee, with bleeding from her gums. She was subsequently arrested and jailed.
